Grand Finale with Grand Senior

The final of the Bezau Beatz 2018 we leave to a true Grand Senior of the British music scene. His longtime collaboration as guitarist and producer of PJ Harvey or about the Eels (the album „Souljacker“ was produced by him) also led him into the film business, where he was just successful and was showered with prizes.

John Parish’s list of musical accomplishments is long, but for years the confident Bristolian has been happily out of the limelight. But the two-time Ensor-nominated composer and Mercury Prize-winning producer now released a collection of songs, including a duet with longtime musical partner PJ Harvey, which changes all that. Bird Dog Dante was born in a busy year for Parish. In addition to the musical direction of the expanded PJ Harvey Band on their Hope Six Demolition Project world tour, he produced acclaimed albums for This is the Kit, Nadine Khouri and Aldous Harding.

John Parish is a family man, and so it’s fitting that his new album has become a family affair with works by his daughter Honor and the layout of his wife Michelle Henning, who is a professor of photography at the University of West London and among others for the legendary Let England Shake Cover be responsible.

It was more or less a fortunate coincidence that John Parish stopped by Bezau. But we are convinced that with his wonderful songs and a first-class band, he will deliver a dignified and celebrated finale to this year’s BEATZ.
